Travel Photography - Street & Landscape
Enhance your Travel Photos with this workshop mix of Landscape, Cityscape and Street Photography. Capture that scene with confidence and creativity. This course is mostly taken place outdoor and focuses on honing compositional skills specific to landscapes, cityscapes and street photography. Ideal for the frequent traveler, the photojournalist, and the photographer who just likes to take pictures anywhere, everywhere!
Learn savvy techniques that will turn your landscape images into outstanding ones, such as lighting, composition, special effects particular to landscape. As well as street photography techniques to capture your scenes and moments with confidence and creativity. Our experienced instructors will guide you through various sets of exercises and outdoor shooting scenarios that will fully prepare you for your next outdoor adventure. Sessions will consist of real-time shooting and immediate review of the work photographed during class. This is an excellent workshop to prepare to capture your travel scenes with confidence and creativity, from street portraits to landscape. Shooting areas will be either the High Line, Union Square, Central Park, or other locations as determined by the instructor.

Requirements:
* Knowing how to operate your camera, in auto or manual mode.
* Any cameras are allowed from DSLR's to Phone cameras. Note, This course will not review the fundamentals of camera functions and exposure; students are expected to know how to manage their cameras. — either in automatic or manual mode (recommended).
Note: Classes take place mainly outdoors. In the winter months, please be prepared for the cold. Some parts of the sessions may take place indoors on very cold days. In case of rain, classes may be rescheduled, as possible.

Photo Journalism & Documentary
Building on the basics of Street Photography, we now go into documentary and photojournalism. Each class will consist of an introduction to the work of famous documentary photographers and various documentary and journalism techniques that students will learn through weekly photo assignments and in class group critiques. Weather permitting, some sessions may take place outdoors.
Throughout the duration of the course, students will work on a photo documentary body of work of their own choice from conception of an idea, through analysis of the subject, to final layout of a series of photographs. Students will showcase their best photographs at PhotoManhattan's exhibit (optional). This course is highly recommended for those who want to take street photography skills to the next level, and to develop their own voice and point of view.

Requirements: Any digital camera. Manual options are highly recommended.
Level of Knowledge Assumed: Basic camera knowledge. This course will not cover the how-to's of the camera settings, menus or exposure.

Street Photography and Cityscapes
Shoot on the ground in New York City in a course built on intensive hands-on field trips. Areas include the ever-popular Union Square and the High Line in New York City.
Sessions will consist of real-time shooting and immediate review of the work photographed during class. You’ll learn the basics of cityscapes composition, environmental portraiture useful for travel photography, and the ins and outs of manipulating natural light. This is an excellent course to prepare for your travel photography.
Available Versions:
- 3 sessions: 3.5-hour classes, 10.5 hours total
- 5 sessions: 2-hour classes, 10 hours total
- 6 sessions: 2-hour classes, 12 hours total
Requirements: Aany digital camera.
Level of Knowledge Assumed: Digital Photography I or equivalent level is recommended. You should be familiar with exposure (manual or automatic), camera settings and the overall use of your camera.
